If you are planning on using a normal handset (not a Web'n'Walk Pro
datacard), there are strict Ts & Cs which are enforced - although it is
now permitted to IM, no audio or video downloads are permitted. There
is also a relatively low usage-cap / fair-usage policy. Latency
limitations make the connection unsuitable for gaming, and VOIP
generally. Real terminal sessions (eg: SSH) are laggy. It used to be
possible to bolt Web'n'Walk Pro onto a handset tarrif, which circumvents
some of these issues, but I've been told that this is no-longer
possible. I'm not aware of any port-blocking.

The connection is natt-ed, so security is no more of a concern than with
a conventional broadband connection.

Download rates are a factor of both signal strength & cell contention.
If you live in a busy cell, you will see significantly slower speeds at
peak times.

I reckon Web'n'Walk is brilliant for occasional internet access on the
hoof, but it's no substitute for broadband on a day-to-day basis.

The only problem I see with that is the connection is not that fast, and
they compress all the images view online - there does not seem to be a
way of turning that off.

'am thinking of ditching the land-line & going G3 mobile (eg: T-mobile
Flext + Web'n'Walk Plus) ... would that be daft (security, download
rates), I wonder ?
