If you are planning on using a normal handset (not a WnW pro
datacard), there are strict Ts & Cs which are enforced - although it
is now permitted to IM, no audio or video downloads are permitted.
There is also a relatively low usage cap/fair usage policy. Latency
limitations make the connection unsuitable for gaming, and VOIP
generally. Real terminal sessions (e.g. ssh) are laggy.
It used to be possible to bolt WnW pro onto a handset tarrif, which
circumvents some of these issues, but I've been told that this is no
longer possible.
I'm not aware of any port blocking. The connection is natt-ed, so
security is no more of a concern than with a conventional broadband
connection.
Download rates are a factor of both signal strength and cell
contention. If you live in a busy cell, you will see significantly
slower speeds at peak times.
I reckon WnW is brilliant for occasional internet access on the hoof,
but it's no substitute for broadband on a day-to-day basis.
