I have to admit being rather swayed by those Avforums and I really
don't know how realistic that was.
- I was 'convinced' it was time to go for a large screen LCD now that
'true HD' had arrived and that the 46" Bravia was the way to go...
until I read all about the backlight inconsitencies that allegedly
'plague' them.
- Then I saw the 46" Sharp Aquos which looked even better... until I
read all about the colour banding issues with them and them being
replaced by a new model very quickly to address this problem.
- So I then decided LCD wasnt there yet and a 50" plasma was the
thing. Panasonic or Pioneer? Well the Panasonic has 'lots of
problems with purple snakes'(yuck).
- Then I looked at the Pioneer threads and... well, everyone loved
their one and barely a bad word about them... So I went and bought one
(507XD).
And truth be said, I love it too, not just the pic quality but the
whole look (no speaker and just a neat thin black frame). But I'm not
sure it was entirely the right way to buy (I did have a good look at
them all but its really hard in the big shops - even John Lewis - to
realistically compare).
Good luck with the Panny though - sorry I cant give any other guidance
as I ran away from it.
