Micromodules and Status

I can't quite get my head around this.

I recently bought a TMD4 micromodule (the four way transmitter with
dimming commands enabled).

I orginally bought it because 1) I could hide it! 2) I thought it
was able to track the status of the addresses it was mapped to. So
if another module or controller switched a light off, the TMD4
would 'know'.

After playing with the unit for a while with no success I contacted
my supplier who informs me that the unit does not track status of
all commands but only the global sort ie 'all lights off'.

While this is in itself not a total tragedy, as I can use Homevision
to get the control I want with a bit of a delay, I wonder if anyone
has used the status mode at all. What is it meant to do exactly?

When I switch the status mode on, if I press the switch the
transmitter transmits an 'on' signal, followed by repeated status
requests. If I fire a status back at it to confirm that the
receiving unit is indeed 'on' it seems to ignore it, so when I press
the button again it sends 'on' again. In fact all the thing does
when I press the button in status mode is transmit 'on' followed by
status requests, regardless of status responses (I experimented with
sending 'off' back as well). It doesn't seem to do 'off' at all!

The signals all seem to be going onto the wire OK. I'm using
homevision to talk to the module while using homeseer to monitor the
traffic on the power line.

If I switch the module back to default it goes on and off on
alternate presses.

Does the 'status' mode do anything useful at all?

Cheers

Karl Else
