What annoys me is all these adverts saying "Im reducing my energy
consumption by 20% by fitting energy saving lightbulbs" .....total
rubbish.
The energy used by your lighting is but a fraction of that consumed by
heating and cooking etc so how can a few low power bulbs save you 20% :(
Last night on "Look East" there were two stories related to
saving the
planet.
1. Person wanted to fit solar panels to save 90% of his water heating bill
and save the planet. House was in a conservation area so planning
permission was refused as it would look ugly
2. Development of energy efficient houses with large glass fronts to
collect
solar energy. Planning permission refused as they would look out of place.
I particulary like the story on BBC Breakfast about the climate warming
survey where all the computation was done by people LEAVING THEIR PCs ON TO
RUN THE PROGRAM. That sounds sensible.... lets leave tens of thousands of
PCs on to calculate the effect on the climate of people not turning stuff
off !!!!
GGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRR !!!!!!
<RANT OVER.... for now>
