RE: CBUS and CFL's
This "requirement" is somewhat concerning/annoying, as I
plan to build
sometime in the next few years (probably more like 10!!), and I
absolutely hate those damn CFLs... (at least every one I've ever seen to
date).
I've said this before, and I'll say it again, CFL's (IMHO) are
universally crap, - the colour temperature is all wrong, they don't
start up at full brightness, but take a minute or so to achieve it, and
they can't be dimmed.
Maybe there are better ones available now, or maybe there will be by the
time I come to need them.. but if not, I can see that I will be fitting
GU10 CFL's for long enough to pass BCO sign off, then they'll all be
replaced as soon as his back is turned with "proper" halogen
bulbs...
Stupid, ***king, poxy nanny state...
Anyway, apart from my rant, the point of this post was to say that I'm
sure I've heard of a precedent where the powers that be were satisfied
that CFL's were *not* required on a CBUS install, - on the grounds that
CBUS itself is (or can be) an energy efficient installation (just
program all the CBUS modules to never go above 80% for instance)... I'm
sure it was on this group that I read this...
