Ho yin,
Autocad was the second app i used once parallels was loaded. I created two
simple plan
drawings, saved without a hitch. It was the baby dongle-less AutoCAD, not
the fat beastie.
I am running a MacBook Pro 2GHz, core duo, with 1GB ram which is very mean
on memory
because OSX likes ram although it swaps memory to HD well. An extra 1GB is
on the cards
if the tests prove successful. So far with Homeseer and Ambient's VWS
running within
Parallels and no other mac app running, Parallels runs the CPU about 30% of
one core
which was less than i expected. This flicked-up to 1.1 cores whth VWS
ftp'ing some jpegs
and HS running some light scripts and speaking the weather. I was impressed
it all took so
little of the CPU. Memory was grabbed a lot, Parallels is using >2GB,
but because OS X
uses swapspace efficiently, the laptop is still very functional for
browsing etc. Not tried
much else so far in OS X at the same time.
My benchmark is an Athlon XP 3200 with 4 or so GB of RAM, fast drives and a
reasonable
video card (it was 3 years ago, so it likley won't run Vista's calculator).
Back to back i'd say
the Laptop runs HS 10-20% faster - noticeable, but not stunning.
