Be aware with denon that what denon.com says you get via the pdf
manual and
specs, and what you actually get are 2 totally different things.
A friend got a lowish end one (cant recal the model - was a xx06 one in
anycase - denon.com and the pdf specs listed
Zone 2 output
RS232 port
upconversion from composite/svid to component
12v triggers
The models sold in NZ via the official importers lack all these features,
and charge more then importing one yourself from any of the other markets
in
the world, even if you paid full retail overseas.
Considering that he wanted 3 of the 4 missing features, he was pretty
pissed
about it.

Mitch, it might also be worth investigating amps with an RS232 port, and
seeing if you can get one which reports status via that. I'm aware of a
number of lower priced amps that have serial ports, I believe some of the
Denons do. If you can find one which does, then you may be able to drive an
external VFD from it....
