Thuslike ?
http://palmlodge.com/lookup/plasma
- the red cat5 is the PoE. There's 2
kat5 boxes in there now (sharing that single cat5 feed, with a rj45
splitter - same as used for the kat5 video cat5 feed on an unterminated
unit)
The gap between the plasma and the wall with the mount i have is 35mm. If
I remember rightly, the ol' KAT5 box is 35mm also. So, just to make things
easier, i chopped away the plaster behing the plasma and about another 4mm
of wall. I then put a sheet of backing board and sealed it in.
I then use double sided velcro strips to hold the kat5 boxes in place etc.
For the KAT5 PoE, I've got a the first 8 channels of a 24port patch panel
(the other 8 and 8 ports are for telephone etc). At the moment I dist. 1
KAT5 PSU into 2 ports on the patch panel - just jumper them together, Then
behind the plasma, for example, I have a dc connector to a cat5 plug. I've
unbound 2 pairs, and rebound the opposites (ala CBUS). ie orange/blue for
12v, w/orange and w/blue for neg.

Hi gareth,
What have you done for KAT5? I am about to fit one behind my wall
mounted TV, I have no room for a PSU but van just fit the KAT5 unit/ I
ran 2x CAT5 cables assuming I would need 1 for the KAT5 and could send
power over the second, perhaps pairing some condutors if required.
Do I need the second CAT5 drop or could I make/buy something to send
POE for the KAT5? I understand that KAT5 is not Ethernet but just uses
all of the conductors of a CAT5 cable.
Cheers
Ian
