I found the Sonos PSU (I think you have a few Gareth :) ) would affect X10.
Also LG TV LCD screen caused issues. One these were plugged into a 4way
that
was in a X10 filter, all my X10 works 100%.

I have often found that its not a single device that stops X10 from
working,
but a combination of multiple devices. Once you have tracked the
rouge/noisy
PSUs, you can then rely on X10 again.

Also try to get the XM10/CM12 as close to your main consumer unit as
possible, ie extend the serial connection as needed.
