Not true for Stand Alone Cable Modems (SACM), only Set Top Boxes
(STBs).
You will need to power cycle your modem when you change backend
devices (which I never really understood), sometimes the CM doesn't
spot the cable bounce :-(
The Virginmedia platform (xNTL isn't a useful term), doesn't keep
track of customer PCs connected to SACMs, as it tracks everything
through the CM using Option 82 DHCP insertion. Same thing happens
with STB/SACM really, but the autoreg processes haven't (yet) been
harmonized.
Yep, it's the only site that's available, 'cause I audited the ACL :-)
Generally speaking, rather than move CM, I'd always suggest just
asking for another one from the contact centers - the later modems
(200s/250s) are much better if you're whacking away with 20meg/s etc.
