I picked up a "proper" nylon snake with brass ends for only

I used it to run speaker cable from the front of my room, out through the
skin of the building, down through the cavity wall, through an air brick
into the floor void, across to the back of the room and up through a hole
drilled down through the inside of a partition wall...
