Re: Powering up a PC ATX machine remotely
You need to enable it in your bios first, may be under another name
thou, like pme. Also check your network adapter settings in windows.
You then tell the device that will be waking your machine the ip or in
some cases mac address of the machine to be woken. In my case it is my
server, which sends the signal to the htpc.
The device used for waking your machine may be anything that supports
wol, i.e. pocket pc, server running Girder or Net Remote. Probably home
sear, or the irtrans, I think global cache, etc.
I mainly use my server and timed events to start the htpc in the
morning, and shut it down in the early hours. I also have my netremote
ppc's set up to do it via a button on my appliance pages.
