The joists change direction at one end of the house, so I can feed a
pipe in from  there.
Could you give a link to "U" nails not sure I've seen them and no
joy
on screw fix.  I do not think you mean a staple?

Yes I have a new stud wall which now has lots of services running
through it and was going to run a pipe through there - now 2 pipes!
