Yes, no problem. I've occasionally used standard B&Q outdoor linear
floods for 'specials' in stage lighting, where the main problem is
improvising a way of attaching gel that doesn't melt (they run quite
hot). Just make sure the dimmer's up to the load.
As with all halogen lamps, the life will be shortened if they don't get
up to full temperature regularly.
