I couldn't agree more - the lack of those codes is the only thing that
screws up my Harmony remote.  If there were discreet commands for on and
off for example, it would never get out of sync.

I have a JVC dvd player where the largest button on the remote is used
to change the brightness of the blue LEDs illuminating the front panel.
Go figure :-(
