AFAIK, you need a sky+ sub (=A310 a month, or "free" if you
take premium
channels) to use sky+ functions, otherwise the skyHD or Sky+ box
functions just like a normal decoder, no recording.

My skyHD box can cope with 1 feed disconnected and still functions
fine, but it will hapilly allow me to schedule conflicting recordings
that would require two feeds so beware.
