If thats all you want to do, there are Thermostat kits that have the
option of phone modules to plugin. My Aube UFH thermostats have this
option. You could then just replace your timers/thermostats with these,
etc.

We were driving back home from the beach after walking the dog and my wife

said 'wouldn't it be good if we could phone the house and get the cat to
put
the heating on for us?'

Regardless of how good the HA is, the cat is unlikely to answer the phone
~
so, we got to thinking about how else we could manage the heating system
so
we could phone the house and tell the heating to come on; did some
searching
on the internet and here we are!

I'm not sure how, but I believe it should be possible to log in to the
house
from work and trigger events etc. for when I get home, but how can we put
the heating on whilst we are driving home? I feel sure the answers are
out
here somewhere; the big problem I think we face is that we do not know the

correct questions to ask!

Anyway, 48 year old couple living in a bungalow and wanting to make our
life
that little bit easier, so any guidance/advice/pointers would be
gratefully
received. We are about to decorate the lounge and I am installing cat5E,
2
points in 2 opposite corners of the room, with the plan/hope of figuring
how
to distribute sat/dvd/music about the place as part of the
renovation/redecoration. The room thermostsat (old honeywell) is also in
this room and needs to be replaced. . .

Sorry if this is a bit long, but thats us!
Regards
Andy & Christine
