OT: Halogen spotlights for bathroom

I know this is a little OT guys but I did post to UK_SelfBuild and got
absolutely zero response.

Father wants to put some mains halogen spotlights in the bathroom.

Does anything fitted in Zone 1 (above a shower) have to be IP44 rated
or as long as it is working off a 30mA earth leakage trip is it OK?

B&Q do some special shower halogens that are IP44 for =A314 but can he
use anything as long as they are off an earth trip?

Do the same rules apply if he goes down the 12V route?

Thanks=20
Andy
