We've got a Targus universal dock with VGA on board, and it's absolute
crap.
Constant issues with getting the screen res right, plus when it does work
the res is low and the colour depth is limited. Not good at all!

I don't know what the USB graphics devices are like from personal
experience..-..anyone? I have however heard that they are poor?

One answer would be MaxiVista - but you would need a second PC....it is
kind
of like a VNC desktop sharing type thing - basically it maps the second
monitor screen memory on the 'master. to a virtual screen on the second PC
with the comms working across the network. If both machines are on the same
switch it is good. I tried it and was amazed how well it worked!

I guess it really works best for people with a desktop and a laptop.
