RE: New IR Distribution System
Ian Bird made them up, from a design someone placed on the net - it's
a
simple IR repeater,
little receiver boards (about the size of a 2p) that use TSOP IR receivers,
and a transmitter board about three cm across by 6 cm long.
Pretty simple stuff - 12v power, single bus wire and so on.
I'm thinking of making another couple of these boards up with CAT5
connectors for my own use,
I'll see how I get on with that - might have a couple of spares.
(unless Ian B has a few of course?)
Ian.

Hi Ian,
The boards you mention below, do you have any more details?
I would be interested to know if they would be of use to me and my usb-uirt
Many Thanks
Dan

I don't get it?
This seems to be nothing more than an IR receiver that goes in one room,
and
an IR blaster than goes in another - what the heck is "new" about
it?
Isn't this exactly what Xantech have done for years, what Frank's FIRM
does,
Am I missing something, or does this guy actually do anything more than
this:

I use a USBUIRT, and those IR boards that Ian Bird made up all those moons
ago, which allows the PC to act on IR commands, send other IR commands, all
scripted with xplhal.
I wouldn't mind a new IR product, but making claims like "the only
product
on the market that can control equipment other than just sky" is just
nonsense.
Ian.

The flexible Smart Eye and Blaster kit is currently the only product on
the market that can control equipment other then just Sky. It will
therefore work with any video equipment not just limiting itself to
digital satellite. It can be used with both Digital and Analogue cable,
Digital Terrestrial and Video Jukebox...
