Too many Ian's ;-)
I made these up a long while ago for anyone that was interested. They were
very simple and I still have all the designs etc. Essentially they were a
555 timer and an oscillating combo to get the IR frequency. There is then
a simple trigger mechanism using in those days a TSOP38 or whatever it was
called. This was the magic bit that turned the IR signal from the remote
into something the computer could read or be sent out on the bus for
re-transmission in another room. There were no smarts or anything, just in
one end and out the other.
If there is renewed interest in these then I could make some more up. I
use a PCB manufacturer these days rather than home made for this sort of
thing so any new ones would look rather smart. The PCB would probably be
single sided and could be sold as a kit if necessary. There is no PCB
production in August as the shop is on holiday.
Let us know what you want to achieve and we'll all try and help. The folks
that use these would be best to advise you on their suitability for your
application.
Thanks
Ian
