Well Nigel it is high time this group branched out into Primal Scream
Thera=
py, so you let it all out chap....

I can only speak as I find - mine has been faultless, but My network is a
v=
anilla XP network with a few machines, a few Laptops and an MCE box, so
not=
hing clever an certainly nothing non-standard. In its defence I would say
=
that for =A375 quid - and the chance to mop up a couple of old IDE drives
i=
t is not a bad bit of kit - I can't understand why it runs so slowly - and
=
GigE would have been nice - but as a mirrored backup device which takes no
=
longer to install than it takes to make a cup of coffee I have to say I'm
i=
mpressed - let's be honest, it isn't TIVO, but what (else) is?. I guess a
=
Terrastation is miles better, but it is 5-10X the cost. Just my two cents.

Anyway Nigel, lie down and tell us about your childhood....

Dr Sigmund.

Tim,

This won't help you but it may help me...

I bought one of these early this year and had no end of problems... I'm
no network Guru but like to think I am at least a sophisticated user...
I tried for weeks to get this to function properly to no avail, don't
even get me started on the support desk...

My problems could have been more to do with Active Directory and Domain
control but my feeling is if it's any more than 2 PCs on a 'Hub' then
the SC101 is not for you....

I'm feeling better already...

Nigel

I don't think it does 'proper' networking and relies on software of the
client machines to access it instead of stuff like the standard
protocols.

If this is the case I think you might won't be able to use it the way
you
want - what's acting as the VPN endpoint, is it a PC or a router?

Andy
