Tim,
=20
I use a couple of old 5.1 soundblaster cards in an old PIII 500 with
Xlobby=
and it runs fine
although I'm only actually using two zones at the moment. I would
recommend=
that you
use the foobar plugin rather than winamp, as I found it put a lot less
load=
on the system.
=20
Oh, and I seem to remember that when you install the KxProject drivers you
=
then have to=20
actually go into the DSP section and "wire" up the channels in
order to get=
then to work
as separate sound cards..

I know a few of you use the kx project drivers with Creative sound cards t=
o
get multi-zone outputs for whole house audio systems. What specific sound
cards do you use, and where did you buy them?
=09
I've only got 2 PCI slots in the machine I've earmarked as the music serve=
r
so I really need 7.1 channel cards to get the most zones per slot. From th=
e
kx driver compatibility list I think this leaves me the Audigy 2 ZS or
Audigy 2 ZS Platinum cards. Does anyone already use these cards? Any
comments on how they work with the kx drivers and Xlobby?
=09
eBay lists a stack of Audigy 2 ZS cards, mostly from the same seller, used=
,
and starting at =A31 with a "free" game included. I quite like
idea of the
in-built firewire port - presumably this appears as a normal port and I
could plug in an external hard drive etc.?
=09
All comments welcome.
=09
Thanks,
=09
Tim.
