We've got a Salamander Cracker (as recommended by the UFH company),
but I'm
not convinced it does much. I've never not had it on, so can't do a
like-for-like comparison, but we still get plenty of scale in the shower
and
on the taps.

They claim that these actually do work, although i seem to remeber
that results have never been proven.
So if you have actually used one, what is your opinion?
