yes, but there's probably also several in the Car already
i.e clock, radio, alarm/imobiliser, mobile phone, ECU, GPS Tracker ;)

Maybe, maybe not. There's probably an oscillator or two running even
when it's turned "off" - at the very least there will be one
keeping the
real time clock ticking (usually only 32kHz or so though). Might be
possible to detect some noise from them I suppose...
