Thanks Keith,=20

When we are in our new house this is one of the many things I'd like to get
set up.
I wish I'd ordered a 1-wire weather station when Dallas were practically
giving them away as a promo.

The Weather Display software itself is 2 parts - a 'server' application
tha=
t
polls the weather station devices for data and then shows them in a
'client=
'
- both the client and server are the same piece of software. On top of
that=
,
they've also built a Shockwave app (the one you said was very nice) which
polls the server for data. Incidentally, this app is totally configurable -
I've just been too lazy to remove the dials I'm not using (yet!!).

On top of that, the server sends out xAP messages, so in theory you could
build an HTML page using this data.

In fact, my reason for buying the weather station is to use the xAP weather
data to make decisions on controlling my irrigation system (which is
controlled today using X10). I'm part way through building the interface
an=
d
controlling logic i.e. if it's rained hard, don't bother running the
irrigation, etc..

Cloud base - well I wish I did have a helium filled balloon, but
unfortunately it's just one of the dials I've not turned off. In fact I've
not yet found out this is used....!

Cheers,

k

very nice, I imagine it's possible to set up as a more simple HTML page

viewing via a mobile phone?

BTW

Can you give us some details of your 1-wire 'cloud base' measuring device

Chris,

I use a 1-wire weather station
(http://www.aagelectronica.com/aag/index.html)
which connects to a PC
running Weather Display (http://www.weather-display.com/index.php)
which in
turn outputs xAP messages and has both a client/server and a web front end.

If you want to see my web front end, go to http://www.finnett.net/weather -
it's not fully configured, but you'll get the idea!

It's a really very complete solution, and has cost me (so far!) =A360ish
fo=
r
the basic weather station (temperature, wind speed, wind direction) plus
=A350ish for the software (server and web). You can buy a variety of
additional sensors (barometer, rainfall, the list is extensive...) which
al=
l
connect to the 1-wire network.

Cheers,

k

'wondered if there was a favourite affordable way of measuring the=20
weather ... automatically, day after day ... rainfall, temperature, plus=20
maybe humidity & wind, etc. Stand-alone, with occassional
down-loads=20
to computer / network - RS232, maybe X10, USB or ...
