Re: [OT] Anyone got a Tom Tom One?

The 700 does all this .... powers from the car ... links with our
'phone, wherever it is buried in the luggage, gives hands-free etc ....
works very well .... and covers all of Europe, too ... apart from the
auto-on (altough it does have auto-off - when the ignition is turned off
- which is a damned nuisance) ...

... but I still prefer our five-year old DVO, in the other car ... the
Tom Tom accepts post codes (no doubt DVO do now) and is faster on
computing (no doubt DVO would match it now), but the brighter & much
bigger screen of the DVO, and the ability to quickly track ahead, is a
real advantage ... plus the Tom Tom is touch screen, which is a pain, if
you are trying to drive at the same time (and even if your are not, the
bumps in the road have a habit of arriving at just the wrong moment
rather too often) ... ... if all goes to plan, from putting in the post
code before you set off, to arriving at the destination, or if only a
simple re-plan is required en-route, the Tom Tom is OK ... but that's
the case, in our experience, only sometimes ... ... still, if you are
the driver, it's still better than a paper map ...
