Not sure I entirely follow on the widescreen thing - mebe some photos
would help ?
As for the audio - I could plumb it into Sonos, but there's no real way of
controlling it yet via HomeSeer (or xlobby) - so for the moment I think
just a speaker in or next to the screen is ok. I need to start
somewhere...
At the moment, this screen doesn't fit the bill

That's exactly the screen that I've just put onto my server and
extended from node zero using cat5. Very happy with it - I have it
running with XLobby.
Don't forget it's widescreen so you will need to change the xl skin.
I've done this based on the 'simplicity' skin.
Also - bit of a gotcha that I'd not thought of - my pc has an embedded
intel graphics chip. It doesn't support 800 x 480! I thought I'd have
to buy a new grahics card. However I found it did support widescreen
at 1280 x 768. So I set the screen to this and modified the xl skin
to this too and it works very well even though it's not the native res
for the screen. So much so that I've not bothered looking for another
card.
I think I may have to invest in a new UCM! I was thinking about
taking the Comfort audio and feeding it back into the whole house
audio zone in the kitchen (where the touch screen is). I already do
this for TTS announcements. Would this work for you?
