Re: Harmony 895 Remote

Sign yourself up at members.harmonyremote.com to get a feel of the
web interface. Personlly I love it, although some people at
www.remotecentral.com don't (there's a Harmony specific forum there
if you'd like to discuss further).

Many Pronto owners switch to Harmony because of the ease of
configuring. It is alot easier to programme and keeps track of a
devices on / off state as well as power up, tuner switching and
inter device IR timings.

The downfalls of the Harmony ?
- It can't keep track of tri-state devices e.g. On - Standby - Off
- It only issues true Macros when switching activity e.g. Watch
Sky -> Watch DVD. Once you're within an activity, the macro's are
very limited. (e.g. Pressing play will play the DVD but dimming
lights at the same time may not be straightforward)

I own 3 Harmony's at the mo (2 x 680 and an 895) and I have nothing
but praise for them!

Phillips are trying to move to an activity based approach.

If you don't have an overwelming need to fire macros outside
activity changes, you'll love this remote.

They also tend to get higher approval from SWIMBO.
