Hi Jonathan.
> Is it possible/common to have hybrid HA installs where one type of
control (e.g. c-bus / Rako) is used for lighting and another e.g. X-
10 / idratek for appliance control. Or even multiple types for
lighting and appliance control as the system evolves?
Sure - you will hear xAP and xPL mentioned on the list sooner or later -
they are efforts started by List members to provide a "glue" to
let
disparate systems work together (and have grown far beyond that!)
I use a combination of X10 and some homebrew electronics to provide the
control/automation for lighting etc, with xPLHal as the control software
(it's a free download)
More information about xPL (my preference) here:
Http://Wiki.xplproject.org.uk (in particular, the "HOWTO"
articles)
Kevin Hawkins is "the man" for info about xAP, so I'll leave that
for him.
Ian.
