Thanks for the replies.
Googling did throw up a couple of things. I think I will need to
download something called SkypeMate from these guys:

(which looks to be the same as you were suggesting Lee, the above link
also has manuals for the phones)
There seems to be an issue though where the Tesco s/w will lock-up the
PC if its started when SkypeMate is running too :-(

Yeah, yeah=85I know=85</me hangs head in shame>
This is for the in-laws though =96 they can manage the Tesco thing, or
Skype, but I'm not sure they're ready for *proper* VoIP=85
