Re: Re: HA Holy Grail #1: Occupancy Detection

Maybe what would be better, is to have a RFID scanner around the
doorframe. You walk through the scanner and your RFID tag emits the code or
whatever and does the apporiate action. Once you apply some logic to this
you can easily work out where everyone is around the home. Then you can do
lke on Star Trek and ask where someone is :-)

If you can get scanners with 0.5m range you shouldn't have too many
problems....

someone on here must surely be able to knock up the real time location
software for this!!

Aeroscout do this for car finishing plants, basically they use 2.4GHz
wifi frequency tags, they can operate with Cisco access points.
Basically the tag beacons, the access point reads the info that a
normal wifi access point would ignore, it reads the mac address and
the x,y co-ordinates i think, and somehow gets position from this?!

bit light on the details sorry, due to have a conference call with
them soon so will post back if i get more,

maybe that'll help someone?!

possibilities. One I especially like is the fact that your alarm
system can be active constantly. ie. the alarm would activate if the
PIR was triggered and there wasn't a valid tag in the room. No more
sneak thieves!
