If I recall Doo-Motion was out before mcsMovement. The first plug-in from
Michael that I can remember is his mcsTemperature module which I still use
today - with hard wired sensors and now also with the RFXCOM wireless
temperature sensors.  I think I did look at mcsMovement when it first came
out but that time I was so far down the road with DooMotion that I was
reluctant to switch.  So, I can't really comment on any differences.

As I said in my original post integration with my alarm system would be a
real plus but the order in which I've purchased kit or the availability of
some of the kit has stopped me being more integrated.  I've just spent
quite
a bit replacing most of my X10 switches with ZWave kit so it will be a
while
yet before any more big HA purchases...
