A switch can switch any number of subnets, it won't route between them.

The issue here is the switch has a management IP which is not within the
range of Paul's PCs.

He needs to temporarily put one of his PCs in the 192.168.2 subnet,
connect to the switch and then set its management IP to one in his usual
LAN range.
