Yes - the information I have is that if you have a 10m run of cable between
your switch and the Bus Coupler then that should be counted as 10m of
Network length. (So 4 switches connected to a Bus Coupler each with 10m of
cabling counts as 40m of the maximum permissible single C-Bus network
length
of 1000m.)
The 1m "limit" mentioned elsewhere I am told is not a limit as
such but has
been general guidance to try to ensure that the length of cable runs that
could be involved back to bus couplers in a commercial environment doesn't
get simply "forgetten" about and hence unwittingly push a C-Bus
network over
(possibly by a significant amount) the 1000m.
So far in practical use I haven't found any problems with "long"
runs of
maybe 20m of cable back to C-Bus Bus Couplers
Phil
