Chris,

Not sure exactly what you are intending to use this cable for but from your
comment on 6 runs per position I guess you are talking about CAT5E for
general use i.e.data,voice,video etc..=20
=20
If this is the case then use standard CAT5E and if it is buried then
condui=
t
it. Don=92t run it in the same conduit as the mains circuits, maintain
separation for different cable types (especially mains), support the cable
properly and you won=92t go far wrong.
=20
If however you are talking about installing C-Bus then use the pink mains
sheath rated cable. It won=92t cost you a lot=85=85 last two jobs were a
5,=
500 sq
ft house with over 50 switches plus motion sensors etc. even with
redundanc=
y
in case of damaged cables we used less than three boxes of C-Bus
Cat5=85.th=
e
other a 3000 sq foot used less than a box. I am currently planning a hotel
install covering a Spa and all the public areas estimate is that we will
us=
e
around 8 boxes.=20
=20
If you run ordinary CAT5E into a consumer unit containing 240V AC then you
are almost certainly at odds with the regs. You will have problems getting
=
a
cert for your electrics unless you use a well dodgy sparks.=20

'looking to buy plenty of cable ... C-Bus shop sells C-Bus cable at=20
about 70GBP per 305m ... but I had in my mind that Cat-5e would come at=20
a little over 20GBP per 305m ... so, just wondered what people have been=20
paying ... and where they go for it !
haven't worked-out yet how many runs to make, per postion ... some seem=20
to go as high as six !
