RE: Xecuter 2.6 CE ?

With a 2.6 CE, you get a 1MB flash, which is accessible wither as
"1st
half" or "Second Half" depending on where you have the Bank
switch set
to.

With it as-is, what is different between booting with the bank switch
set to Bank 1 or Bank 2?

Assuming that "Bank 1" works fine (i.e., boots to a hacked
dashboard of
some type that will let you flash...) then I would:

1. Use the Dashboard's "Backup Bios" function to make a 1MB
bios.bin
file.
2. Get that file to your PC.
3. Using Xecuter Bios Manager, load up that old Bios.
4. Add your new bios of choice to the second half of the chip... They
are called Bank 3 and 4 in XBM. If your new bios is 256K, put it in
both 3 and 4.
5. Save this new bios to a file
6. Transfer it to your xbox and flash, with the bank switch set to
"bank
1"
7. Reboot the xbox, and verify that Bank 1 still works as it did before
you started.
8. Shut it off, and switch to the second half, and you should have your
new bios.

Feel free to ask questions if need be...

Subject: [ukha_d] Xecuter 2.6 CE ?

I've got hold of 2nd hand XBOX which I'm trying to convert into a xbmc
box.
I've soldered in an Xecuter 2.6 CE on a version 1.0 xbox but I'm
confused about doing a bios update

I've read various articles but I'm concerned that I'm going to kill the
modchip by stuffing up the bios flash as I can't seem to find a decent
article relating to installing th eX2 bios If someone has done a
succesful update I'd like to know which article you followed. My main
area of confusion is around the bios size and what should be added to
the 4* 256 Kb banks

Final question... Should the xbox (when in normal xbox mode) always ask
for date and time ?.. does it have an onboared dallas chip or backup
battery that might be flat....
