That's a bit of an open question, really. It depends what's running on
the virtual machine, what virtualisation software you're using, and the
hardware you're running it on. We found that running two virtual Citrix
servers on an IBM HS20 Blade allowed us to service a similar number of
users compared to the server running without virtualisation. There
seems to be little overhead.
