RE: Server



What do you need a server for? More to the point, why do you think you
need
one?



Because if you must have an exchange server, or you must have x y z, then
yeah, it's a good idea, but if you need central web access, what about just
having a decent router? - everyone gets access to the www no problems
(unless you config it otherwise) filestore? Why not add a NAS box - some of
them come with print servers too, so that's that side of things covered.

I guess it would be easy to add others, too .. web-server, for example
... then again, I wonder it the nature of servers is changing ... ie:
tasks are being shared on a network, duplication is being reduced, with
each machine doing its bit, according to its speciality ... etc etc.

So, how about RAID ... will we all need / have RAID (0, 1, 10, whatever)
before long ?
