Good estimate would be around 500 GBP per cubic meter, that's the
average based on total house cost ready to move in.
Basement finishing is cheaper than let's say bedroom, but usually more
expensive in diggin it out. So the average will work out more or less.

In your case 40x30x8 feet = approx 12x9x2.4 = 260 cubic meters = 135000
GBP (assuming it covers the complete foundation of the house, that's a
solid investment :-)
