Basement finishing is cheaper than let's say bedroom, but usually more
expensive in diggin it out. So the average will work out more or less.

Try 500GBP per square meter, not cubic. The cost of basements varies
dramatically, main due to soil conditions but it is also effected by the
foot print of the house above it.
