It might be worth trying drivesnapshot (drivesnapshot.com)

Odd documentation, due to the guy being German, but a brilliant
product. We use it for 30 odd machines at work.

You should be able to backup the machine from in Windows, mount the
backup on a different machine to get confidence, and then do a restore
using the floppy boot disk that comes as an image with drivesnapshot.

Note that you should be able to do all of this within the 30-day trial
period. :-)
