Received my £99 Dell Server today!

Seems ok for the money, although it's a little lacking in space for
internal
drives.

There is space for 3 hard drives, but that would leave them very close
together which may be a problem for drives that run hot. There's space
above that for floppy / a.n.other drive, but the cage looks a bit small so
not sure if a hard drive will fit.

Drive connectivity is a bit poor too - it only has a single IDE port that
according to the manual it can only support CD / DVD data drives (and not
hard drives - maybe a transfer rate limit?). Also it only has 2 SATA ports
so with one taken up for the system / boot drive this will only leave one
port available. Plenty of PCI slots though so could always fit a scsi or
sata raid card, although finding space for the drives will be a challenge
as
per the above!

Memory is DDR2 EEC so not the cheapest, best place is Crucial as per Davids
message below - a 1 gig matched pair is £99 with free delivery - use the
promo code "INSIDER1" for an additional 4% discount!

Cheers,

Martyn
