The RPCS driver allows you to select either colour or B/W for the
print job (as output from Word say).

In direct response to "Do they auto-sense colour use? I.e. What
happens if you print a 20 page word document with only pages 1 and 9
having colour?"

Ours certainly does not auto detect colour - you pre-select this in
the print driver. If you print "20 page word document with only pages
1 and 9 having colour" then you get 20 pages colour or 20 pages B/W as
per the print driver setting.

Our printer is very similar but includes a document server - I
resolved this by outputting 1 B/W side to the document server ans 1
Colour side to the document server and then printing these 2 files
duplex - the meter then clicks 1 colour copy and 1 B/W copy.

This solution is rubbish if the content is constantly changing and/or
low volumes printed. If printing high volumes it is worth the effort.

I looked at Desktop Binder to try and create a single print job but
all I can do with that is assemble several documents (from several
sources if required) into one and then output this as an entire Colour
print or entire B/W print. :(
