"Life" did not die out, only species did, Lots of them, Most of
them, in
fact. I'm afraid that while I share your belief that "life will go on
no
matter how badly we screw up the environment" (again, I paraphrase and
hope I capture the intent well enough), I take little comfort from it.
I drafted several responses to the list on the subject of Government
priorities, but I had to delete them all because they all ended up too
much like blatant anti-Bush diatribe no matter how hard I tried to
restrain myself :-)
As you're probably aware, I'm relatively libertarian - I don't have
faith in Governments to sort the mess out, but I do have faith in the
mass of individuals making their own decisions about what car to buy
once petrol is triple the price it is today, and how well to insulate
their houses, and whether aeroplanes are actually a good way to
transport people around.
