I've got one, too.
The stability issue was completely solved by connecting it to an
_electronic_ plug-in timeswitch that turns it off for 5 minutes at around
3AM every morning. Not had a single lock-up since.
Browser is, indeed, a bit retarded but other than that, it's perfectly
usable.
Works fine with TiVo, too, if that matters.
