Re: Internet access via TV

The 'simplest' solution I found was this:

http://www.shop.bt.com/invt/011613

It has a built in browser and lots of other features [including
Freeview ;-) ].

This is the latest one (recently released). A couple of points on
the old one:

- as a Freeview tuner it was excellent
- BUT was too flakey for my liking on other features and locked up
too much (for me consumer electronics should just work and any
regular lock up/crash is unnaceptable)
- Browser ok but suffered some of the probs of on tv display (i.e. TV
typically does not show 1024 x 768 buy more like 800 or so wide) also
ther was no mouse/trackball so navigation used arrow keys which is a
bit clunky). Finally, don't think it runs all plugins (flash,
java...) so not all pages can be viewed.

That may not sound like a ringing endorsement, but those criticisms
aside it is a clever & very good piece of kit (esp as a freeview
tuner). I hope that they may have improved stability in the latest
version.

Thoughtyou might be interested.
