[OT] Personal RF locator

Ok, this is one for the electronic experts out there.

I remember a couple of years back that HP developed their cooltown
idea that had personal RF locator's which could be used to locate an
individual object or person. They released circuit diagrams at the
time but googling now it seems that they have pulled the project.

I have the crazy idea that I'd like to make a few miniature RF
devices, much like a car alarm key fob, which you can carry around the
house with you. Each device will have a unique code that will be sent
say once a second enabling a receiver to 'locate' each person.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of a circuit diagram I can
follow or idea's on how I can do this. Please bear in mind that I'm a
little rusty with the electronics side of things as I haven't picked
up a soldering iron since I worked at PACE 6 years ago but its all
coming back to me as I read up.

Cheers,
Jamie
