So, we can either go the HomeGate route or the HomeSeer plugin route.

I can see how the plugin should be able to support the "KD"
command - but
could HomeGate send this via it's own CBUS UCM ???

Just checked the tech docs for the current UCM. They have added a
command "KD" to emulate the keypad. Nice thing is that in this
mode
the UCM sound-in and sound-out are driven in exactly the same way as a
normal keypad would work, so with a small active speaker hidden away
nearby you'll get exactly the same functionality as you would from a
keypad.
